ACANTHURUS CHRONIXIS: CHRONIXIS SURGEONFISH

These surgeonfish are endemic to Yap. They are classified as vulnerable by the IUCN, considering they are only known from Kapingamarangi Atoll in the Caroline Islands, which is isolated but heavily populated. They only been collected in depths of 6 meters or less and may be identified by their dorsal spines and protruding snout.
Apogon thermalis: Sangi Cardinalfish

These are reef-associated non-migratory fish. They have a total of 7 dorsal spines and 9 soft rays. They can be identified by the black stripe that starts off at the snout and goes through the eye, ending at the opercle. They must also have a caudal spot, as noted in the fish to the left.
Pomacentrus simsiang: Blueback Damselfish

These fish are not endemic to Yap, but are found in sheltered coasts. They are not listed in the IUCN website. They are about 7 centimeters long.
